The drawl bridge may open and you may stand still and wait to see what type of boat reveals its bow. Watch the beautiful boat as it makes its way toward the downtown docks. The smell of salt air and the sounds of people enjoying life in the shops and restaurants with outdoor eating areas are all a part of the downtown experience. You may also detect the smell of food drifting in the air from Plums, Saltus or some of the other dinning establishments. It is not any wonder why many of the local shops are filled with coastal art work of Beaufort scenery. Beaufort inspires people which is very evident when you view all of the artwork. Most days in Beaufort the sun is shining, there is a coastal breeze and the birds take flight.
Beaufort is a top ten fishing town, a top ten place in the country to retire, a coastal town, a smart town, a place filled with warm hearted people. There is so much to see and do and being so close to Charleston, Savannah and Hilton Head you are surrounded by beautiful towns filled with History. Day trips to Charleston take only an hour and twenty minutes and you will find that trips to Savannah and Hilton Head are only fourty five minutes to a hour. If you love the coast but also like that quaint small town feel Beaufort is a place to hang your hat and call home.
